The jewellers are a people who live removed from the mainstream in the cliffs of Bandiagara in the Dogon region of MALI, WEST AFRICA. This remoteness helped spare the waves of successive colonization. Living on their own, and making necklaces like this, they have managed to maintain their handcrafted traditions without succumbing to the tourist industry.
